Lady of the Dance

Sister of the sun and rain
Bring the dance to earth again
Gentle spirit, fair and free,
Lady of The Dance is she.

Where the summer meadowsweet
Blessed the pool at Bridgid’s feet
Where its essence filled the air
She danced away the earth’s despair.

Sister of the sun and rain
Bring the dance to earth again
Gentle spirit, fair and free,
Lady of The Dance is she.

She danced with joy each sacred site
Raising temples to the light
Each ring of stones or pointed spire
Holding high the mystic fire.

Sister of the sun and rain
Bring the dance to earth again
Gentle spirit, fair and free,
Lady of The Dance is she.

Where the ethereal music plays
Measuring the length of days
Suzy of the Angel Room,
Guide our steps at Holycombe.

Sister of the sun and rain
Bring the dance to earth again
Gentle spirit, fair and free,
Lady of The Dance is she.

I wrote this to commemorate Suzy Straw, of whom I was very fond indeed. (Let’s face it, everyone was.) Please feel free to make up your own verses or tunes. If you do, add your names to verses or rewrites.

There is a tune but it needs improving. If you want to hear the tune I can send you an audio attachment. Blessed Be.

I have always enjoyed writing and concocting stories and poems and I would like to thank my mother for singing to me when I was young and showing me that it was natural to write things down. Telling impromptu stories to my kids when they were young was also fun.
